Frodo was living on the streets for several weeks...he was very frightened being out on his own.  With the help of a wonderful good samaritan and the Sacramento County Animal Control, he was finally captured and taken in to the shelter.  It was found that Frodo would not be able to be put up for adoption as he was shy and suffering from some injuries to his legs and hips.  The folks who helped him when he was out on the street contacted us and asked if we could rescue him from the shelter.  We agreed, and with their continued help, he was brought to us the next day....and now Frodo needs your help too....

His xrays show that Frodo has a pelvis injury and appears to have been shot.  His knee is shattered and there is a pellet still lodged in his pelvis.  Despite how HORRIBLE his xrays look, Frodo is able to get around and is happy to show you his wagging tail....he will even offer you a kiss if you want one.

The first surgeon's opinion received was not positive....after analyzing his xrays, we were told there wasn't much that could be done and euthanasia might be Frodo's best option.

Of course we wanted a second opinion and Frodo will be headed up to Loomis Basin Vet for an additional consultation
3/5/09 - Frodo visited Loomis Basin Vet and we were told that they might be able clean up his shattered knee to help him with pain and mobility.  The surgeon felt that his pelvis injury had already healed and although it will always be mal-aligned, it should not cause him any life threatening issues.  The focus is now on making him as comfortable as possible and that will require surgery on his shattered knee.

Frodo was a model patient and was in very good spirits!  He is currently at a temporary fosterhome until we can arrange for his surgery.

3/18/08 - Frodo is doing great after surgery....we still would love to find him a fosterhome that can help him with his rehab.  Currently all he needs is a home that can keep him fairly confined while his leg heals.  It turns out he had a fracture in his femur as well as the other known injuries, but Frodo is still in great spirits!

Of course we would love to find a permanent home for this wonderful boy - if you might be interested, please email us right away!
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU!

We are in desperate need of donations to help us with Frodo's surgery.  The estimate is $2000.  We would love to give this sweet dog a second chance.

We also need a fosterhome for Frodo after surgery!  We currently have no place for this little boy to go to recuperate....so we need someone that can open their home for a month or so while Frodo recovers and looks for his forever home!

Frodo is a 1-2 year old border collie/corgi mix....he is only 35lbs and so so sweet!  We can't imagine what his life has been like.  Thanks to so many wonderful people, he has the opportunity to truly know what it's like to be loved and part of a family.......we really want to make this happen!
