Sacramento Independent
Animal Rescuers Inc.
Our Mission Statement...
Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our purpose is to aid stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. It has been organized to help Sacramento area independent animal rescuers find their foster pets the loving homes they deserve. To date, over 1,100 dogs and cats have been rescued and placed into wonderful homes in the past few years. In order to provide these services, we work with the community shelters, rescue organizations, and individuals who have animals with special needs and place these animals in permanent homes after they reach a stage of wellness.
Many of our rescued animals, especially those that were rescued from the shelters initially had kennel cough, pneumonia, or giardia with the extreme cases having the parvo or distemper viruses.

We rely on tax deductible money donations as well as food and other pet supplies that will allow us to continue to save lives!

All of our companion pets have been neutered or spayed and given all current vaccinations. This also provides the community with healthier animals and aids in the reduction of the outspread of illness and future homeless offspring.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, most of the animals listed here are either in foster care, or at a dog boarding facility, or still at an animal shelter and posted on our site as a courtesy posting only.
The adoption fee for animals being adopted by SIAR can range from $75 -$100 (for kitties) and $150-$250 (for dogs) and depends on the animal and associated costs. The adoption fee helps up recuperate the thousands of dollars spent yearly on rehabilitation and allows us to continue to rescue animals in need.
If you need help in placing a dog or cat up for adoption, a donation is requested.

This poor little pup was left to die in a field in Central California.  We rescued his two brothers after they were taken in to Animal Control and were saddened to hear that there were 3-4 more little ones left in the field.  Two weeks later we were told the remaining 3 were taken in.  Thankfully another rescue group took two - but this little one still needed help - he was the worst of all. Frodo was living on the streets for several weeks...he was very frightened being out on his own.  With the help of a wonderful good samaritan and the Sacramento County Animal Control, he was finally captured and taken in to the shelter.  It was found that Frodo would not be able to be put up for adoption as he was shy and suffering from some injuries to his legs and hips.  The folks who helped him when he was out on the street contacted us and asked if we could rescue him from the shelter.  We agreed, and with their continued help, he was brought to us the next day....and now Frodo needs your help too.....

SIAR would like to acknowledge the generous donation left to our group by Harold and Marie Sketchley....
Animals held a special place in their hearts and we are committed to honoring their wishes.
Their donation will go far to  help unwanted and neglected animals finally find loving homes.
